LA시장 선거에서 승리한 캐런 배스 연방 하원의원이 시민을 위해 총력을 다하겠다는 소감을 밝혔다.
캐런 배스 연방 하원의원은 오늘(16일) 성명을 통해 우선 상대였던 릭 카루소 후보와 통화했다는 사실을 알렸다.
배스 의원은 LA시민들을 위해 지속적으로 봉사하겠다는 뜻을 전화로 전해온 릭 카루소 후보의 헌신을 매우 존경한다고 강조했다.
이어 변화가 필요하고 신속하게 움직여야하는 시기라고 밝혔다.
자신이 출생한 LA시에서 시장으로 당선된 것에 대해 영광스럽다고 말한 배스 후보는 노숙자 문제 해결, 범죄 예방 등 빠른 변화가 절실하다고 짚었다.
앞선 문제 해결을 위해 관련한 모든 관계자와 논의할 것이라며 주민들의 적극적인 동참을 당부했습니다.
캐런 배스 후보는 LA시가 지구상에서 가장 위대한 도시로 모두가 함께하면 더 나은 미래를 만들어 나갈 수 있다고 밝혔습니다.
마지막으로 자신을 지지해 준 LA시민과 선거 캠프에 감사함을 전하며 함께 LA시를 발전시켜 나가자고 강조했습니다.

"This evening, I received a gracious call from Rick Caruso, who is someone who I hope continues his civic participation in the city that we both love. I have great respect for his commitment to serving the people of Los Angeles.
"The people of Los Angeles have sent a clear message: it is time for change and it is time for urgency.
"This is the city where I was born. It's the city where my mother and my father raised me and my three brothers. It's the city where I raised my children and where my children are raising their children -- with Emilia and Michael always in our hearts.
"This is my home, and with my whole heart, I'm ready to serve, and my pledge to you is that we will hit the ground running on Day One.
"I am honored and humbled that the people have chosen me to be the next Mayor of Los Angeles.
"I ran for mayor to urgently confront the crises our hometown faces. Tonight, 40,000 Angelenos will sleep without a home — and 5 will not wake up. Crime is increasing and families are being priced out of their neighborhoods.
"This must change.
"To the people of Los Angeles, my message is this:
"We are going to solve homelessness.
"We are going to prevent and respond urgently to crime.
"Los Angeles is no longer going to be unaffordable for working families — good jobs and affordable housing construction are on the way.
